and pulling out the nasty old filter cartridges and bailing it out to get the last little bits of icky out and scrubbing it out with bleach...

I refilled it with fresh water, (Danny helped)

bought it new filter cartridges, and a new Polaris pool cleaner.

And now...

I am lovingly conditioning the new water to be perfectly balanced and clear. My plan is to keep it very very nice all season.
I hope it is really friggin hot this summer and that you all come over and enjoy the pool with us. Otherwise I just wasted a perfectly good Sunday.

Definitely going to be some swimming going on this summer... I'll try to make sure your Sunday wasn't wasted!
I am determined to learn to swim (really swim; not dogpaddle) this year and when I do I'll come over and show off my Olympian strokes.
Bob, I am appalled APPALLED that you let the pool get that bad! Shame on you!
Peggy
Thanks Peg. It wasn't me, I was doing a show. It must have been space aliens that made it get so bad.
I am on my way over. RIGHT. NOW.
Grace, if you make it here by Saturday there is a big party for our Dickens Fair group. You don't need a costume, or a swimsuit for that matter.
Oooooooh that pool looks good!

How long did it take to fill up the pool with, is that, a single waterhose? Plus, those pool filter shots are pretty groovy (the green slimy ones). Were they really stinky? The next time your pool gets that dirty can I come over and check it out?
Yes, the filters did in fact stink (like chlorinated pond water) and it took about ten hours to fill it up. I think it is about 12000 gallons or eleventy million teaspoons.
